Product Description

"...this story is easy and fun to read, with bright cartoon illustrations and a text that rolls off the tongue. It teaches a great message too-look for the good in everything. Children will ask to read this book over and over!" - Wee Ones, Jennifer Reed, editor

"Hate That Thunder,/i> captures the essence of a common childhood fear. Nighttime storms can be frightening, but the characters Mandy and Andy (who are twins) walk the reader through a poetic understanding of the situation. It is the poetry, which flows easily, making the experience enjoyable for both adult and child.....It is the opportunity to open a discussion with your kids." - Donna Allen, Publisher, Times Publishing Newspapers, Inc.

Great story and illustrations. My son was afraid of thunder until we read this book. We had a decent thunderstorm recently and my son asked me if the storm will help the flowers grow as taught in the book!

What a wonderful children's book! This book has a great storyline, and the illustrations are terrific! I am buying more copies to give out as Christmas presents. I will be first in line when the next book in the series comes out. Thank you, and keep them coming!!

It's not often (try almost never) that I've seen a self-published book that was well written and professional looking. The only exception in my admittedly limited experience is McClear and Dollak's "Frannie and Pickles," and that was by far Dollak's best.

So, it's a pleasure to enthusiastically recommend William Adams' bilingual "Hate That Thunder/Odio Ese Trueno," illustrated by the talented Tom Stiglich (an honors graduate of the Art Institute of Philadelphia). Look for that exact title at Amazon.Com; it's the bilingual edition that came out about a year after the one on this page (and it'll save you almost a quarter!). "Hate That Thunder/Odio Ese Trueno," has both an English and a Spanish language version of the story; flip the book over vertically and you'll get the other language.

This "Mandy and Andy" book concerns big-eyed, yellow-haired Mandy, who faces a common childhood fear--the loud sound of THUNDER! Author Adams, a former newspaper editor and... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Learning Made Fun, July 29, 2007
In preparation for our trip to the US, I got civic on my kids. I suddenly felt the impulse to share them all fifty states and teach them exactly whose faces show up on Mount Rushmore.

      Mount, what?

Yeah, we have a lot of work to do.

Brian Thornton has done every expat American mom a favor by actually making learning such things fun. In The Everything Kids' States Book, we've learned the oddest trivia (the majority of limestone used in US buildings stems from southern Indiana) with at-a-glance descriptions of Everything you've ever wanted to know and then some. The friendly format, puzzles, quizzes and colorful pages are a must-have for every kid who might not know how great America truly is!

Christine Louise Hohlbaum, author of DIARY OF A MOTHER and SAHM I AM: TALES OF A STAY-AT-HOME MOM IN EUROPE, lives with her husband and two children near Munich, Germany.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Facts great for all ages, June 19, 2008
      Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I bought this and the Presidents book for my son's 9th birthday, he loves fun facts so this was perfect to go with his wall maps we also bought him. Each night we would pick a state or two and read about it. It's always fun to see what someone else thinks is fun about your own state too.
