5.0 out of 5 stars Best Yoga Cards for Kids, October 26, 2006
    Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Yoga Pretzels (Yoga Cards) (Cards)
I'm a kids yoga instructor, and use cards with my classes almost weekly. I'd been using the Kids Yoga Deck for years, and then I finally bought this deck.

I much prefer the Yoga Pretzel deck, because they are twice the size of the others. Also, the Pretzel deck shows cute drawings of different children doing the poses and the Kids Deck only shows unisex stick figures, which is less exciting for the kids. The larger size of the cards, makes them easier for kids to see the pose and hold. They are very colorful and lively, and will be the only cards I use for class now.

Another big difference between the two decks is that the Yoga Pretzel deck contains cards with many yoga poses, and other cards with games and breathing exercises. The Kids Yoga Deck only has cards for poses, and no games.

I really recommend these cards for parents to use at home with their children. Children can use them on their own too, and just mimic the kids on the cards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yoga for the whole family!, February 4, 2006
    Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Yoga Pretzels (Yoga Cards) (Cards)
These cards are wonderful! We heard about them from a Yoga Kids instructor and our kids love them.

The pictures are memorable and make the poses clear. The titles of the poses are all kid-friendly (Rock, Airplane, Bunny Breathing, Arrow, Tree etc.). Each card has "mood" words that go with the pose.

The children can pick two cards before school or bed, and then we do the poses together. Or, put them in a circle and play musical poses--when the music stops, you do the pose you landed on.

The cards have great illustrations. I am disappointed in the names on each card. Many poses are called different names. I had planned to use these cards in a yoga class I teach for kids. However, the poses have new names that I have had to learn and teach the kids so that I use the cards. I would much rather teach the more well know name for each pose instead of a name that was created for one product.

4.0 out of 5 stars sturdy, except for the wheels, March 28, 2010

This review is from: 4-Sided Library Book Shelf (Toy)
A very well-built and solid product. The pieces are well-sanded and smooth. We are using it in our living room. Only complaint is that the wheels are really cheap, never allowed the unit to rotate well, and collapsed after a few months because we put a lot of heavy books in it. We replaced the wheels with silicone skateboard wheels and now it looks and works really well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, February 23, 2011

This review is from: 4-Sided Library Book Shelf (Toy)
I've search long and hard for just the right bookshelf for our kids. I definitely wanted something that had a display case so the kids could actually see the books and not just the spines. But display cases alone take up a lot of space and don't store as much as ordinary bookshelves. This provided the perfect solution. My next dilemma was deciding between this one from GuideCraft and a very similar one from Jonti-Craft. I made my decision on the fact that this one has 3 shelves instead of 4. The 4 FIXED display shelves would limit which books I could display. In other words, I wouldn't be able to display large books if I wanted to. When I received the library and assembled it, I was extremely pleased with my choice. It is very strong and sturdy, good quality stuff. It will last us very long and the kids won't "outgrow" it (can be used into adult years). It was also less expensive than the Jonti-Craft... Read more

The bookcase is sturdy and durable. It holds many books and its design makes it easy to access books from all sides. I especially like that there are sides to display your child's "favorite" books. It is a great piece and well worth the price.

Children and adults alike need to read this book. Most folks have no clue how unique and special Asperger characteristics are. Relatives and friends of individuals blessed with A.S. may not be willing to do research or even read a book, but this is so simple and in two minutes it can help a stranger to the situation realize how A.S. individuals contribute and make a precious contribution to humanity. Mrs. Wine may not have a PhD, but she knows more about this subject than any doctor. A loving mother and advocate, Mrs. Wine simplifies the often complex, misunderstood, mysterious behavior of the otherwise "obnoxious" appearance of A.S. to educate and disarm the ignorant.

      A must.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cleared Up A Lot Of Questions, March 5, 2011

This book helped my daughter understand WHY she was different than her classmates, and to figure out that it wasn't necessarily a bad thing. I just wish the book was a little longer. It is a short book, only about a dozen pages long, but it did open a conversation that we had been needing to have. It was kind of amusing, in a heart-wrenching way, to see her defiantly declare on seeing the book, "I'm not Asperger's!", then on almost every single page, say softly, "Oh....I do that." By the end, she realized that yes, she WAS autistic, but it didn't have to be a bad thing, just different, and this book reinforces that idea. The last page says, "But Asperger's is what makes me....ME!!!"
